This year for the first time I have entered an international competition Black and White Spider Awards. This week to my big surprise I have received an email congratulating me on receiving 8 Nominee awards in 4 different categories. I still have to pinch myself to believe it. Although the reason I take photographs is the joy that it brings me and recognition is not something that drives me, it does feel nice to be acknowledged by other people.
Three of my images are from my ongoing project about Prague. The city is very close to my heart as I grew up in the Czech Republic (or Czechoslovakia as it was called then), and spent a lot of my childhood holidays there. The love for the city has never left me and led me to trying to capture what is left of what I remember.
Four of my images are from another city I love. I have lived and worked in London for over a decade now and its beauty never ceases to amaze me.
My last image is from a place close to home, Bushy Park. A great example of beauty that can be found on my doorstep.
All the images are now on display in the Winners Gallery of the Black and White Spider Awards 11th Annual Online Exhibition.
