Day 198 of 366: The Crescent

On the last day of my stay with my Mum in Ostrava I decided to walk to my favourite place nearby. This striking building, a gateway to Poruba, was modelled after the monumental squares of St Petersburg, with a split road running through two arches built into its wide crescent. From the air it is supposed to look like a hammer and sickle – presumably for the benefit of American spy planes. Though judging from the view on Google Maps it is more a wishful thinking.
