Day 289 of 366: Rainy Mornings

Our next destination was Westport, a charming town in County Mayo. The weather forecast was not good, so I decided to get up early and explore the town instead of looking for a beach sunrise. When I left our hotel, it was still dark and drizzly, but not unpleasant. However as soon as I set up my tripod to take the first picture, the rain suddenly got heavier. I persevered, hoping it would stop, but it didn't. I kept on walking to the centre, which turned out to be further than I expected, so when I got back to the hotel, I was freezing cold and drenched to the bone. For some reason hot breakfast and a cup of tea tasted much better than ever.

By the time we packed and checked out of the hotel, the rain stopped and we could drive away in warm sunshine again. At least I could dry out and get ready for the next downpour.

Rainy Nights

We carried on to another beautiful beach, an expanse of soft sand and dunes, reflections and tidal streams. Then more "diddly squats" at the end of the road. This one had plenty of character. Definitely worth the drive.
