Day 328 of 366: Autumn Leaves

A very sad day for the family. We went to say the last good bye to Martin's daughters' Grandmother (from their Mum's side). Though I only met Aileen a few times, I knew how loving and caring person she was, with an optimism and a sense of humour to light up anybody's day. It was a beautiful ceremony that was truly for her, to celebrate her life and love for her family.

The Autumn Leaves song by Nat King Cole was one of the songs that her husband used to sing to her. Perhaps now they are back together and she can listen to him singing yet again.

The falling leaves drift by the window
The autumn leaves of red and gold
I see your lips, the summer kisses
The sun-burned hands I used to hold

Since you went away the days grow long
And soon I’ll hear old winter’s song
But I miss you most of all my darling
When autumn leaves start to fall
