Day 363 of 366: Quiet Shopping Mall

Back in my home town and back to winter without snow. I went for a little walk down the memory lane and re-visited the town centre. Once it was a vibrant place, full of people, shops, cafes, department stores. Sadly not much of the atmosphere is left there now. It is a very sad place. Empty streets, closed shops, boarded department stores and abandoned bars. Derelict buildings in the middle of the town. Not surprisingly it is called the City of Ghosts. Most people seem to gather inside a new super modern shopping centre, while the rest of the town is slowly falling apart. I hope that the few cafes and restaurants that are still left will not disappear and that one day the city's past glory will be revived.

Every time I go back, I try to capture the little bit that is left of the place I remember from my growing up years. That's how my personal project Where I Grew Up started. If you are interested, you can follow the link to see more.
