Day 59 of 366: One Little Seashell

Another busy day prevented me from going out. I had to cancel a trip to the seaside I was looking forward to for a long time. Sometimes life just gets in the way. At least I have little keepsakes to remind me of the good times spent on the beach. I am obsessed with seashells and collect them every time I get a chance to go to the coast. Because "happiness is to have a seashell in your pocket and sand between your toes".

One Little Seashell

I found this little nursery rhyme, and really loved it, especially the ending.

Five little seashells lying on the shore.
Swish went the waves. And then there were four.

Four little seashells, pretty as can be.
Swish went the waves. Then there were three.

Three little seashells, all pearly new.
Swish went the waves. Then there were two.

Two little seashells, lying in the sun.
Swish went the waves. Then there was one.

One little seashell, lying all alone.
I put it in my pocket and took it back home.
Till my soul is full of longing
For the secret of the sea,
And the heart of the great ocean
Sends a thrilling pulse through me.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
