14th February... For some it is time to celebrate love, for others time to refuse to give into the commercial pressure to spend money on overpriced gifts.
So here comes the question. Celebrate or not to celebrate? I don't think there is no right or wrong answer. Whichever answer you decide on, Valentine's Day is not about romantic gifts or candle-lit dinners in an expensive restaurant. It is a Day of Love. A day when we celebrate the existence of this emotion in all its forms and stages. All of us have love of some kind in our lives. If not a partner, then a friend, a family member, a pet. It is the most beautiful human emotion and can never properly be described in any words.
So why not to celebrate that we are capable of feeling this undefinable sensation that makes our lives richer without any material wealth? Simply enjoy the day and spend it doing whatever makes you happy. Whatever puts a smile on your face. Alone, with the people you care for, or with that special someone who makes your heart skip a beat.
Remember that this day does not hold a magic power over any relationship. No amount of romantic gifts and gestures will ever replace a harmonious relationship for the remaining 364 days in a year. We are just as worthy of love on the 14th February as we are on any other day. Appreciate the love you have. Be grateful for the fact that you are one of the luckiest people in the world to have found someone special in your life. Someone you can share your love with. Don't forget to tell them and show them how you feel. Not just on this day. Make every day a Valentine's Day.
