On the Edge of Dawn

“Dawn is the time when nothing breathes, the hour of silence. Everything is transfixed, only the light moves.”
Leonora Carrington

Once there was a secret little place. It was beautiful and peaceful. It was a place where gentle waters flowed, a place that only the river knew. The river, a few locals, and me… Going back to that place after some time brought back memories of quiet mornings, only disturbed by a distant sound of swans’ flapping wings, and water rippled by ducks’ little feet.

However as they say “you can never step twice in the same river”. Once discovered by the rest of the world, the secluded place changed beyond recognition, and is now slowly disappearing under the waves of holidaymakers.

There is still a small chance to savour its tranquillity, even if only for a very brief moment on the edge of dawn. Before the river wakes up and all the coach parties arrive…
