No sun – no moon!
No morn – no noon –
No dawn – no dusk – no proper time of day.
No warmth, no cheerfulness, no healthful ease,
No comfortable feel in any member –
No shade, no shine, no butterflies, no bees,
No fruits, no flowers, no leaves, no birds! –
November!
Thomas Hood
Thomas Hood grasped the essence of the end of autumn perfectly. Many days were certainly very grey, gloomy and dull. But at the same time we had some golden misty mornings, delicious twilights and first biting frosts. It was almost like October melted into November and November stole a little bit from December. The autumn gracefully came to the end of its journey.
