Summertime

Therefore all seasons shall be sweet to thee,
Whether summer clothe the general earth
With greenness, or the redbreast sit and sing
Betwixt the tufts of snow on the bare branch
Of mossy apple-tree, while the nigh thatch
Smokes in the sun-thaw; whether the eave-drops fall
Heard only in the trances of the blast,
Or if the secret ministry of frost
Shall hang them up in silent icicles,
Quietly shining to the quiet Moon.

Samuel Taylor Coleridge

Summer is definitely drawing to an end. All those sunny days and warm nights I have been looking forward to the end of the season, to the beauty of colours and light that the autumn will paint all around us.

However now I feel a little nostalgic. All that time I kept forgetting about the magic of summer. The clear blue skies, the warm sun, gentle breeze, strolling on the beach, the cool air in the mountains, pleasant evening walks in the city... and lots of ice cream. All of this is gone for now (apart from ice cream, which I love at any time of year and in any weather). Until next year, when I will make sure I will enjoy every minute of it, without even thinking about what will follow next. Because "all seasons shall be sweet to thee", and all seasons have their own magical spell.

Summer Evening
Sailing Time

Here are a few observations from the beach. These photographs are much harder for me to take, as I am always conscious that people are entitled to their privacy, and some are not comfortable with being in front of the camera. But sometimes these moments are really hard to resist. And then all you can do is try.

Happy Hour
