Day 293 of 366: Guardian of the Day

Magnificent Fanad Lighthouse, for me it was the most beautiful spot on the Wild Atlantic Way. By coincidence Martin and I were listening to the song by Patrick Watson called Lighthouse. The beautiful lyrics only confirmed that my decision to drive to the lighthouse for the sunrise was the right one. I was slightly worried about the drive - a narrow winding road through the dark countryside and little hamlets. But I actually enjoyed it. It was very peaceful with no traffic at all. Then a flashing light suddenly appeared in the distance, and I knew I wasn't very far. Once I found my way around the headland my heart almost stopped. I expected a beautiful scenery, but nothing prepared me for the breathtaking reality. It didn't feel real at all, I thought I was still dreaming and had to pinch myself to make sure I was awake. The light and the sky were changing all the time and I just couldn't stop wondering at it all.

Leave a light on in the wild
Cause I'm coming in
A little blind
Dreaming of a lighthouse in the woods
Shining a little light to bring us back home

When to find you in the backyard
Hiding behind all busy lives
Dreaming of a light house in the woods
To help us get back into the world

Cause I know
I've seen you before
Won't you shine
A little light
On us now
Won't you shine a little light
In your own backyard
