Day 52 of 366: Night Trees

I didn't have time to get out during the day so I had another quick walk round the houses. I had a picture on my mind since I got a glimpse of it when we were driving past the Twickenham Rugby Stadium the other day. As usual, the reality was totally different, so I had to find an alternative.

I have lived a walking distance from the Twickenham Rugby Stadium for more than a decade, and never photographed this beautiful statue. It isn't easy to do it justice. You can't really get the real sense of scale of it until you stand right next to it. It is really impressive.

This 27 foot bronze sculpture of a rugby line-out by Gerald Laing depicts a group of five twice-life-size figures. Around the bottom of the statue there is a rugby ball shaped oval with engraved five core values of the game – Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship.
